mask (dance & live theatre)

Painted mask carved from one piece of wood, apart from the addition of two ear plugs, inserted below the lobes. The female human face is painted a dull greenish yellow with pinkish red full lips, and has staring eyes. Above the forehead is a band of three cobras painted withcross-hatching on the hood and body, the underside striped red and black on white. Above this is one erect large hooded cobra, the body striped in red and black on white, the hood in green and yellow with scales and cross-hatching in black, and an S shape in pinkish red on each side. This cobra has projecting eyes and many teeth in its open jaws.
