According to Edward Hart, writing on 25 January 1927, ''Left (no 1): adult male, October 15th 1887; right (no 2): adult female, October 25th 1887. Both shot by Edward Hart at Hengistbury Warren, Christchurch. Sexes alike; summer and winter plumage the same. Mounted by Edward Hart'.
