English system concertina. Serial number 30832, internal batch number 71. Scalloped embossed chrome plaque, inset to wooden ends: 'C. Wheatstone & Co. Inventors, Patentees & Manufacturers, Concertinas and Aeolas, London.' 7.25 inches raised ebony octagonal ends, fully fretted, bevelled. 49 keys: 24 each side + 1 air lever. Domed plated metal, bushed. Black leather straps with nickel screws on flat of the ends. Eight-fold black leather bellows with two valve holes in each lower fold, inside frame stamped 'Wheatstone', with serial number. Round-end steel reeds, large sized, all on inside of radial chambered reed pan, stamped 'Wheatstone'. Square brown hide case with gold/red oval 'West Street' label.
