Northumbrian small-pipes. Ivory blowpipe, drones, chanter and cap. Silver ferrules and keys. Rosewood stock. Green fabric bag with leather inner bag. Four drone pipes (g/a, g', d' and d), each formed of two joints with string lapped tenons. Three of the upper joints retain tuning bead. Chanter with block mounted silver keys with square flat flaps and leather pads. One key missing. Seven tone holes and thumb hole.
These pipes were formerly the property of Thomas Bewick the wood engraver, then of Charles Keene the Punch artist. After Keene's death they were purchased by W. H. Cummings, from whom the instrument passed to Kennedy North. Two similar instruments are held by the Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum.
