vase

Vase with baluster body, tall neck with barbed rim, supported on a high foot with openwork shaped like a stand. Unglazed foot ring that has turned to reddish brown in the firing. The body is a coarse buff stoneware, covered with a glossy white glaze with bluish tinge, the so-called qingbai glaze. The glaze on one side of the exterior is matt due to the low firing temperature. Provided with fitted case.

Purchased at Sotheby's in 1963. Formerly in the collection of Lord Salveson.
