Generations of families from London and beyond have grown up with the Horniman Museum and Gardens as a constant delight, inspiration, and resource for life-long learning, and from this April we are delighted that the Horniman will once again be open seven days a week.
In recent years, the Horniman has increasingly relied on visitor income to help care for the Gardens, animals and Aquarium residents, to run events and to look after the collections. The support of returning visitors, our supporters and their generous donations are more needed than ever as we all learn to live with Covid.
Every month the Horniman was closed due to lockdowns cost around £150,000 in lost income and, even now, our income has not recovered to pre-pandemic levels. The legacy of the pandemic will be long-lasting and we still need support to make up the income we lost – from ticket sales, memberships, the shop and café – during the lockdown closures and limited capacity opening.
We are more committed than ever to our role at the heart of our community and so we’re asking for your help.
Regular reliable income – year in, year out – is vital to allow us to plan for the future. You can help by:
- Becoming a Member – if you’ve never been a Horniman member before, sign up for a years’ worth of wonderful membership benefits including free exhibition entry and know that your subscription is helping the Horniman get through this difficult time.
- Re-joining as a Member – if your membership has lapsed over the past year, please re-join. We really miss you and there is lots for you to see.
- Upgrade your membership to become a Benefactor – if your finances allow please consider joining our closest family of supporters. We’ll treat you right and be forever grateful.
- Making a regular monthly donation – if you’re feeling especially generous we’d really appreciate your gift each month. You’re awesome.
