Lute (dramnyan) with bridge and plectrum.
The dramnyan accompanies vocal music. Like most examples from the Tawang district, this instrument is based on the 7-stringed Bhutanese model (see Horniman Museum number 1972.180) with a peg near the middle of the neck for a short string and a dragon-head finial. The instrument was made by a Bhutanese monk, Lama Jhenkiong, and fitted with a bridge, strings and plectrum by Tashi Norbu, a member of the Monpa community from Bomjar village in the Tawang district.
