211.212.12 Individual double-skin cylindrical drums, both heads played

wooden, double-ended cylindrical drum, with animal hide membranes at either end. Drum is bound with man-made (nylon?) and vegetable fibre cords, attached through holes in both membranes and with a yellow man-made (nylon?) fibre cord round the middle of the cylinder. The attached shoulder belt is made from woven red vegetable fibre cloth, decorated with gold and white lace ribbon and bound in three places with vegetable fibre cord. it is attached to the drum by vegetable fibre cord.

The drum is played with two wooden sticks, para kol. It is used to accompany tolpavakoothu shadow puppetry.
