211.322-92 Double-skin frame drum with handle, with membrane lapped onto a hoop

Dhyangro, double membrane frame drum. Shallow cylindrical wooden shell with a carved handle extending from one side. The edges of the skins are lapped over concealed hoops and braced with a narrow strip of hide, which passes through holes in the skins and between them in a V-formation. A hide strip is also wrapped laterally around the frame and wrapped double around each V to tension the membranes. The handle is in the form of a ritual dagger with a pointed tip, and with carved decorations along its length. Faces appear near the base, with coloured ribbons tied around an indented section.
