Helmet crest (?) of carved wood in the shape of a shishi, with gold leaf applied on top of black lacquer. Inside of mouth coloured red, probably nnot with lacquer. Slot in base which fits the rod at the front of hmos97 designed to carry a crest but back is flat and has a rectangular patch which does not correspond with shape of helmet.
