Below the face, in what might be the body, project a pair of what may be feet. The body of this piece is hollow, and it might have been part of a larger vessel, acting as a boss or decorative projection.

The body of this piece is hollow and it might have been in real life part of a larger vessel, acting as a boss or decorative projection. There will be other explanations. The object is marked inside in black ink with ‘KD’ (probably Kula Dheri, Charsadda District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). Early Historic Period, late centuries BCE or early CE. Sites such as Kula Dheri are exclusively later in character and though this object is a very odd thing indeed, coming as it does from KD makes it a late object too. Archaeological context: presumably unstratified and from a surface collection. Given by Col D H Gordon (1952/3).
