Wooden sleigh, arrenslede or arrenslee (bell sleigh), with decorative iron clad runners and panels painted with Dutch country scenes. These include fishing boats, windmills, grazing cattle, a horse and cart and a village square. Around the paintings are intricately carved wooden frames with floral and shell designs. At the front is a portrait of a woman. The back of the seat is covered with a green velvet fabric which is worn and has been patched in one place, trimmed with braid in blue, red and yellow. The seat itself doubles as a storage compartment with a key. This no longer opens. Behind the carriage itself is a metal standing platform. To the side of this on the left runner is a brake. The sleigh is of the Amsterdam type and was probably made in that city.
