Wooden black lacquered cylindrical tea caddy with a finely painted lid. The painting depicts a seated man playing a stringed folk instrument, to his left a woman dances with her left hand on her hip and the right hand in the air, holding a scarf. To her left, a dancing man is stood on one leg and holding a hat on his right hand. Each of the figures has at last one garment painted in a vivid red paint. Areas of the paint is chipping away and there is a large dent in the base. There is a label with the object, made of cream card and typed in black, reading: 'RUSSIA. Caddy, lacquered wood' It does not appear to be a Horniman Museum label.
