According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Bottom left (no 1): adult female, September 1890; bottom middle (no 2): adult male, May 1876, summer plumage; top right (no 3): adult male, June 1883, summer plumage: bottom right (no 4): adult male, June 1883, summer plumage. Shot by me on Burton Meadows, Christchurch. Sexes differ, summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me'.
