Taxidermy case of two adult male and two adult female Common Snipe. According to Edward Hart, writing on 5 May 1927, 'Bottom left (no 1): adult male, January 12th 1881 (6 ozs); middle left (no 2): adult female, December 24th 1878 (5 3/4 ozs); top left (no 3): adult female, September 1883 (4 1/2 ozs); right (no 4): adult male, January 31st 1878 (6 1/2 ozs). Shot by me in the neighbourhood of Christchurch. Sexes alike. Summer and winter plumage the same. Mounted by me'.
