Shot by Edward Hart on Mudflats, Christchurch Harbour, January 3rd 1871; middle (no 2): young. Obtained Plain Heath, New Forest: May 1885; right (no 3): adult female, summer plumage. Shot by Edward Hart at Grimbry Point, Christchurch Harbour, August 24th 1885. Sexes alike; summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by Edward Hart'.
