Taxidermy case of adult male and adult female Spotted Sandpiper. According to Edward Hart, writing on 3 January 1928, 'Left (no 1): adult male, May 1880, Sussex, summer plumage; (no 2): adult female, May 1880, Sussex, summer plumage. A North American species of rare occurrence in this country. Like the Common Sandpiper preferring the margins of lakes and rivers. These two birds were purchased at the sale of the late Col. Jeffreys and labelled as above. Sexes alike. Summer and winter plumage differ. Not known by whom mounted' .
