Taxidermy case of varieties of Eurasian Linnet. (only two specimens remain of original six in case). According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Bottom left (no 1): adult male, summer plumage, June 1877; middle left (no 2): adult female, June 1877; top right (no 3): male, variety, 1879; middle right (no 4): female, variety, March 16th 1878; middle middle (no 5): adult male, summer plumage, June 1877; bottom right (no 6): male, variety, December 11th 1895; nest and five eggs. All obtained by me at Coward's Marsh, Christchurch. Sexes differ; summer and winter plumage, male differs, female the same'.
