Small 'economy' concertina. English system. Serial number 8690. Oval paper label: 'By Her Majesty's Letters Patent, C. Wheatstone, Inventor, 20 Conduit St., Regent St., London.' 5.63" diameter flat rosewood ends, simple fretwork, glazed cardboard backing. 'Action within frame.' 26 ivory buttons, black accidentals, stamped, a very limited range. Right-hand green leather strap, left-hand later strap, brass screws. Four-fold green leather bellows with gold star papers. Round-end brass riveted reeds, with blind chambers in pan for extra reeds. Note names and sizes marked up to 16, but only 12 fitted.
