Tabl, cylindrical drum.
This drum was given to the Victoria and Albert Museum (then known as the South Kensington Museum) by 1869 by His Highness, the Khedive of Egypt. It appears in an illustrated catalogue of the museum's musical instrument collection drawn up in 1869 by Carl Engel, where it is pictured as a floor standing drum. The drum was one of a number of instruments transferred to the Horniman Museum from the V&A in 1956.
