Square netsuke in the form of a study of a nobleman and woman in relief. Material unknown. On the top, the woman on the right side is playing a flute. The man on the left side carries a flute in his right hand and has his left hand on the woman's shoulder. He wears the hat of a nobleman. The woman has a comb in the shape of a bird in her hair and a peony on top of her head. The background is decorated with a basketry pattern. On the reverse are three peonies. Both sides have two dots made of iron in the four corners. Same design as 9.517.
