waist ornament

Waist band consisting of a length of fine netting tied into a loop. At regular intervals bundles of strings of dentalium shells are suspended from the netting forming a fringe. Where the two ends meet, two shells have been fastened which are held in place because the netting is fed through holes made in them and held in large knots. The knots have been coated in mud, or similar, to make them solid. The netting band has been sewn onto a twisted piece of wire, probably for display purposes.
