sandal (clothing: footwear)

Sandal. Flat sole made of six layers of hide, the top decorations with a stamped border of crosses and straight lines, and across made up of circles on the heels. The straps go around the back of the heel and over the foot from either side of the heel; the front straps connect with a thong from the middle of the sole between the toes. A flap comes up over the toes, and covers the front of the foot, also being connected with the straps.
