Oblong tablets with gilt flower design on the back. The face is covered with a white wash of chalk that can be marked by a pen or stylus. Two of the tablets are blank and two have Tibetan writing on them. The set is secured with a red leather band. Two of the tablets have two writing faces, the other two act as covers to protect the writing and have only one writing face.

The base burgundy colour, flower patterns and burgundy coloured leather binder suggest use by a high ranking aristocratic or monastic official.
