breast ornament (personal adornment)

Mother of pearl breast ornament of crescent shape, cut from the central rim of a gold lipped pearl shell. Above the crescent are two fretwork frigate birds in profile, and carved on the concave face of the shell are two schematic bonito nose to nose. One of the frigate birds has been broken and glued at some point in the past.
