notice; documentary artefact

Length of bamboo tube with rows of script (inscribed letters and figures) running parallel to the edges. Appears to have been polished. At one end has an internode between sections of the bamboo. The other end has been cut, it could thus have acted as a container though it has no lid. Said to be a border notice saying that anyone who is found trespassing will be punished. Accompanying card indicates that it is a boundary marker from the Batak people of Sumatra.
