Ladle of sub-rectangular form with rim pinched in at one side. It stands on a low foot with a flat base. The short horizontal handle has a stylised head of an animal issuing from the rim. The body is fine, buff stoneware, covered with green lead glaze, slightly underfired. Chipped rim and base. This ladle is based on a bronzeware prototype of the Western Han period, 206 BC-8 AD, and would have been used as burial goods.
