waist ornament

Man's waist ornament. Made of two sets of cotton threads twisted together to form a `belt’, from which are suspended five pairs of decorated lengths of dowelling (material unknown) over which the plain cotton is laid, which is covered on the outside in bands of plain and coloured cotton. Band colours from the belt downwards: short black, plain, pink; long black; short plain; long green, pink, plain, black, pink. The bottom end of each pair is finished in a tassel of shredded paper or fibre, tied on with pink wool on one end and green wool on the other end of a pair.
