‘Mata-ni-pachedi’ shrine cloth, printed and hand-drawn with dye which reacts with the mordant to produce a design in red and black on a cream ground. The main panel depicts the 'mata', or mother goddess, on a howdah, riding on the back of a bird and armed with the weapons needed to kill demons.
