purse (clothing: accessories)

Purse from Bhutan, formed of two panels of orange and gold brocade edged with rows of blue and white cord stitched together on a leather base. The case is suspended from a double length cord. A lid of the same material as the body of the purse forms a flap, which slides up along the cord. A strip of blue brocade runs along the outside of both sides of the body of the purse and is joined underneath. Attached to this blue fabric are two curvilinear metal elements, with below a long blue tassel.
