321.321 Necked bowl lutes

A đàn ty bà (necked bowl lute), stamped with what may be the maker’s name “Bá Phu’ó’.c” on the soundboard. The shallow, pear-shaped wooden back, neck, bridge and 7 frets with elaborate inlay in mother-of-pearl, the scene on the back depicting a procession to a palace. Four nylon strings tuned from turned wooden pegs, 15 wooden frets surmounted by slips of bamboo, 11 frets on the soundboard. The nut and bridge are edged with strips of bone. The finial to the pegbox is in the form of a bat.
