Blanket, pua kumbu, formed by sewing together 2 warp-faced tabby-woven cotton textile panels along the selvedges. Each is decorated with an ikat panel in dark brown and cream on a russet ground. This contains motifs, which may be abstracted from vegetal forms, set within hexagonal bays. On the shorter sides the ikat panel is bordered by two bands of motifs, the inner one of three pairs of curls, the outer band of triangular motifs each with a circular finial in the same colours. A band of blue and white chevrons between two narrow rows in white has been twined across the weft towards the end.The longer sides are bordered with a band of ikat between on the inside a strip of narrow stripes in black, russet and white, and on the outside a narrower set of narrow stripes bordered by three wider stripes in the same colours. The colours were probably achieved using natural dyes. The ends of the warp have been cut leaving a very short fringe.
