A suling tembang, duct flute, with external duct. Made of a variety of bamboo with a particularly straight bore and long nodes, with a thin ring of soaked bamboo forming the airway that channels the player's breath towards the edge of a hole in the tube. Six fingerholes.
As used by any Karawitan (Sudanese music) ensemble, usually in duet or trio with one or two kacapi board zithers, a popular combination known as kacapi-suling which has a large repertoire of classical Sundanese music.
