Headdress for telek dance costume, formed on a red-painted basketry base to cover the wearer's head, around which is a vertical band covered with red velvet and gilded leather carved into patterns, and above which the central turned rod rises. At the front is a slightly curved diadem with pieces of mirror inset above and coloured stones below; at the rear is a garuda mugkur. Above the encircling band a brim projects, from the edge of which gold-painted tassels hang. Above the brim and filling in the spaces between it and the central rod are carved leather elements, some lying flat on the surface, some projecting vertically and some supported on metal springs. On the left side is a triangular section of red fabric supported by a slender rod at the top of which is a star-shaped element. All leather and wooden pieces are painted gold. The crown is secured by a strip of rubber attached to the rim at one side and with a hook at the other end to secure opposite. Four hanks of loosely spun undyed yarn are similarly secured, and would cover the rubber strip under the chin when worn.
