321.321-71 Necked bowl lutes sounded by bowing with a bow

One gadulka (fiddle), Bulgaria, Arbanassi region, circa 1985, purchased with bow (E262.2) from a market stall in Arbanassi, Bulgaria on 8th June 1994. The piriform body, neck and head carved from a single piece of wood. Three pegs passing through the circular peg-box from the back, with spliced shafts for wire strings. The wooden table with two U-shaped soundholes. A wooden post is wedged under the rectangular tailpiece.
