Slit drum (kulkul) made from a hollowed out tree trunk, probably of jackfruit wood, with a slit in one side; hanging cord of plaited ijuk fibre inserted into hole carved in the top for suspension, and beater. A household gong used to repel evil spirits at Nyepi and also as an alarm in case of fire. With beater.
