Embroidered panel, tabing, depicting the temptation of Arjuna, a story from the Mahabharata. On white cotton fabric, embroidered in multi-coloured wool. The figure of Arjuna is seated on a rock with female temptresses at each side, four to the left and three to the right, and the figure of a black boar in the foreground to the left. These had all been sent to distract him from his meditation. This central group is enclosed by two trees, one at either side, whose trunks lean and meet above Arjuna. A smaller tree at each side. The whole is surrounded by a frame of scrolling embroidered leaves and flowers, including a bird at the centre of each side.
