Murlī, double clarinet with gourd wind cap. Made in the Sindh province of Pakistan. Both pipes have a downcut idioglotal reed; the reed of the drone pipe is weighted with wax. The wind cap, made of a gourd, has lost part of the wax seal round the lower edge so that the reeds and the tops of the pipes that they fit into are now revealed. The paired bamboo pipes and the gourd are stained and varnished a red colour. The right-hand pipe has seven fingerholes. The left-hand pipe functions as a drone and has two fingerholes, the lowest stopped with wax. The mouthpiece covering the proximal end of the gourd consists of a thick plastic tube, probably the handle of a bicycle. At the distal end of the two pipes is attached a triangular glass bead charm against the evil eye, with pendant pompoms. A strap of glass beads and pompoms is attached to the instrument, and it is encircled with lengths of yellow and green lurex with a fringe.
