tobacco pipe

Hardwood tobacco pipe, which appears to have a natural ridged habit that is apparent on the curved stem. Circular dark flat-topped projections on the bowl also appear to be the natural form of the wood. At the base of the bowl a hole has been made in a small projection, through which a cord has been inserted to attach the bowl to the stem. They are of separate pieces, joined securely, possibly with resin. The mouthpiece is of brass, tapering towards the mouth with a wider flange at the mouth end, noticeably wider than the wooden stem at the other end.
