Textile sample, with background of black and yellow checked 'optical illusion' pattern, blue coins and white bills, a blue bird carrying a red money bag in its beak, and a red tag reading "1961-1986 BMCD 25e ANNIVERSAIRE".
BMCD: Banque de Developpement du Mali. According to their website, they were founded in August 1961 part by the Malian state and part by the French bank Credit Lyonnais. In March 1986, the Bank split and renamed itself as BDM – but encountered financial difficulties and became BDM-SA in 2001. Two of the images of the banknotes look as if they are referring to those minted in 1977-81 (http://www.atsnotes.com/catalog/banknotes/west-african-states.html) especially the 5000 cfa (the highest value circulating note at the time was 10,000cfa).
