422.211.2 (single) clarinets with cylindrical bore, with fingerholes

Clarinet in A. Cocuswood body. Mouthpiece probably ebony. Ivory ferrules. Thirteen silver keys (hallmarked for 1832), block mounted with circular flat flaps and leather pads (one cork pad). Block mounts are turned away except for one which is full and round. Rollers on low keys. Five joints including mouthpiece. String lapped tenons. Mouthpiece, barrel, upper joint and lower joint stamped: KEY/LONDON; Bell stamped: KEY/LONDON/CHARING CROSS; All inscriptions incorporate a unicorn's head motif. A paper label adhered to the reverse of the upper joint has in D.J. Blaikley's hand: 133. Bb CLARINET/COCUS/13K
