Rotary valves were (and remain) popular for all valved brass instruments in Germany. Carl Boosé promoted 'rotary cylinder action' as a new and special feature of the instruments that he sold with Boosey & Sons. Boosé was a clarinettist and military bandsman from Darmstadt. His predilection for rotary valve brass instruments reflects his Prussian background and possibly suggests that these instruments were manufactured in Prussia.
