Horsewhip with a handle made from a sheep’s leg bone, with a short lash of plaited leather with 10 strands nailed to the handle, with a leather wrist loop through the joint end. The whip looks well used but the nails suggest it is a fabrication made for the tourist trade which passes through Lake Karakul to the Karakorum highway. This whip was bought from the last Kirghiz family resident on the lake shore. The others had already moved back into permanent housing for the winter months.
