321.321-6 Necked bowl lutes

Tanbur, necked bowl lute, with brass plectrum (nakhon). A partially-legible inscription in Cyrillic characters at the base of the neck may read: U'STA USMON UGLI SIDIK UCHUN'. The pear-shaped body and neck are are made of of white mulberry (Morus alba) wood, with inlay of blue, black and white plastic in geometrical patterns. The sound table has three small elliptically drilled soundholes, and two other smaller soundholes on either side of the bridge. Four wire strings with a sounding length of 994mm. 19 frets of gut or animal tendon, 2 fixed wooden frets on the soundtable.

This tanbur was the playing instrument of Abror Zufarov, the great-grandson of Usta Usman Zufarov. The marks on the soundtable show where he placed a small microphone.
