Glazed ceramic stoup or wall basin beneath a cross. The flat plaque has curved sides with a large stoup below and meeting at a point below. On the plaque is the shape of a cross in dark brown, with a pale area where the body of Christ is suggested. There is a cream glaze with brown detailing including a border of raised dots and a floral motif on the stoup itself. Inscribed on the reverse is the date, place of manufacture and maker's name which is illegible. See notepad.
The stoup was placed at the entrance of the household. People entering and leaving the house placed their hand in the stoup and made a sign of the cross.
