Glazed ceramic stoup beneath a crucifixion figure. The flat wall plate has a peaked roof above and decoration of square pieces of tile with 'pins' set at an angle in a row all around the edge, the lower end of which meets at a point beneath. One of these square pieces of tile appears to have slipped from the roof edge before firing and adheres to the figure's shoulder. There is a small hole at top for fixing to wall. The figure of Christ on the cross appears above a bowl-shaped stoup. The front of the object has a green glaze with details in dark brown. There is an inscription on the reverse with maker's name, date and place of manufacture.
Would have been placed near the entrance to the house, with holy water in the stoup. One entering the house a person would dip their finger in the water and make the sign of the cross on four points of their body.
