Tajik Girl's Hat

Red, densely embroidered, home-made girl’s cap in a dome shape, with a plait cover. Four rams are depicted frontally in white, green, black and yellow, edged with black, yellow and blue in dense embroidery. The walls of the hat have a motif of eight pointed stars, with borders of chequerboard above and ‘Jacob’s ladder’ below. The plait cover has similar decoration in its weave and is fringed with tassels in black, ochre, red, green and blue. The tassels are supported on pearl-like beads. On the top are pink, red and yellow feathers.
