Father of Zumrat, Medi or Bobohaidar

Glove puppet . Could be used for the part of the Father of Zumrat (Cinderella) or Medi/Bobohaidar, a local puppeteer, actor, musician and clown who is often brought in to entertain important visitors to Bukhara (Cf. 2001.195.10).

Puppet is of an old man with grey eyebrows; a full moustache; a smiling face and a winking eye. He is dressed in a pointed, stripey, green hat with a blue, yellow, red and white chequered/crossed headband. He also wears a 'choker' of white, blue and gold fabric and a robe in green, red, yellow, blue and grey stripes which is trimmed in blue and white at the front opening, hem and cuffs.

This character is based upon a living comedian/singer/dancer who lived in Bukhara in 2000 who was relied on to entertain visiting delegations.
