Box worktable, rectangular, blackened, with a card strip mailed down inside.The box belonged to Yoshida Hyoshi who died about 1978 aged about 80. He was from Kyoto and made the box himself. The urushi (lacquer) would have been worked with spatulas on the lid. The Japanese term for the box is jouban. The box cost 4000 yen. 330 x 480 x 220mm.
