'Uganda' drum, cylindro-conical drum, with single playing head. Components: skin, beads, shells, fibre. The head is braced with vertical lacing in 12 alternating broad stripes of black and white, covering the upper, mainly cylindrical section of the wooden shell. The lacing passes through holes in a single piece of brown and white cowskin which covers the conical section of the shell and open base. The instrument has a skin apron from which are suspended numerous strings of glass beads, each terminating in a cowrie shell. The skin head of the drum has been damaged with a large hole.
